How to Make Easy Spider Treat Bowls
Time needed: 5 minutes.
A few supplies and you have super adorable spider treat bowls perfect for Halloween. These can hold cereal, snacks at parties, or candy!
- Trim Straws
I trimmed 8 straws down to size so that they looked like reasonable spider legs. Be sure you trim the side of the straw without the bendy party. After you trim to size, snip the end (away from the bendy part) at an angle.
- Test the Angle
Size up next to your bowl to see if you have the correct angle. You want the straw as flush against the bowl as possible.
- Secure Spider Legs to Bowl
Secure the cut straws to the underside of the plastic bowl with hot glue. I found the easiest way to do this was to flip your bowl over upside down and attach that way.
- Form the Legs
When the hot glue is dry, flip the bowl over and bed the straws to create legs. These are not for support in any way so don’t worry if they touch the table surface.
- Add Googly Eyes
Finally, I added the googly eyes to the rim of the plastic bowl. Fill with your favorite treat and enjoy!
I told you those were easy!! Here are some helpful tips when making Spider Treat bowls:
- When you get one straw cut correctly on the diagonal, line up the rest of the straws together and cut all at once!
- When hot gluing the straws on the bowl, it’s helpful to lay them out beforehand so you get them evenly spaced.

Thanks for the tip to cut the straws at an angle before gluing. You could put a small piece of Styrofoam on the bottom of the bowl to make them stand up.
Where did you find the black straws? Thanks

Where did you find the black straws? I’m using pipe cleaners but it’s not that easy to bend them to make them look uniform.
