Personalized DIY Wood Slice Coasters

I am excited to share these adorable DIY Wood Slice Coasters today for my 25 days of Christmas Series!

I have two confessions to make.  1.  I love, love, love the new trend of using branches  2.  I originally planned on making a wreath but it got so cold that I didn’t get all my slices cut from my logs and I am hating the cold too much to go out and do it now!  <—True Story!

So I did manage to get a few slices when I was “testing” out my project idea when it was warmer.  Note to self…just cut them ALL next time!  Moving on.  I used my Ryobi Compound Miter Saw and sliced a log into four nice slices.  You can also buy these but I just used some actual logs!

I wanted to personalized them so I dug in my stash and pulled out some alphabet stencils and my DecoArt Americana Black Paint and a foam brush!

When stenciling them, be sure to dab off the excess paint from your foam brush before stenciling.

Snowflake Christmas Tree Handmade Card Idea

Today I have a Snowflake Christmas Tree Handmade Card Idea to share.  I know that photo Holiday Cards are a fan favorite and personally mine as well but sometimes you also need a holiday card to attach to a gift for someone who you may not know on very personal basis…like your kid’s Karate Instructor or Swim Teacher or Bus Driver.  This card is so easy to make and you can also make it larger scale as a piece of wall art!

So I have to ask a question…Anyone else LOVE fabric?  I mean, I am a total beginner sewist and even before I got my sewing machine…I LOVED FABRIC!  My favorite thing to do is browse all the awesome fabrics at Jo-Ann’s.  Even better…the remnant rack!  I love, love, love the remnant rack!  Would you believe me that I made these mittens, scarf and hat from a remnant of fleece I picked up?

Jo-Ann’s has tons and tons of choices for fleece.  I also picked up some for a cute toddler knot blanket that I will share soon!  Here is how I made my matching set!

Supplies Needed:

  • 2/3 yard of fleece in your favorite color or pattern
  • Sewing machine/thread
  • Scissors
  • Pen or marker
  • Yarn
