Embellished Serving Utensils

Today let’s talk about table bling shall we?  I am sharing some Embellished Serving Utensils for your Holiday Table!  Shouldn’t we have fabulous utensils to serve the food we spent all day making?!?  I don’t know why not!  Let’s get started!

Embellished Serving Ware

25 Days of Christmas Banner Day 6

Supplies Needed:

  • Serving Utensils (I located quality ones at Dollar Tree!)
  • Large square plastic beads
  • Silver Craft/Jewelry wire
  • Wire snips and small needle nosed pliers

Servingware Supplies

Let’s do this! Essentially you will wrap the handles with the wire, add the beads and finish by wrapping the wire again but I will take you step by step!   I am going to show the picture and then explain it underneath!  Cool…let’s go!

Start out with about 3 inches of excess wire

Start at the lower end of your utensil.   Leave about 3 inches of wire out as excess to wrap with.

Wrap Wire 3 to 4 times

Wrap your wire tightly around the utensil neck leaving the excess as is.

Loop excess around and through

Loop your excess length around and through the 3-4 wrappings.  Pull tight.

Reapeat until tight

Repeat this looping and pulling several times until you feel it is good and tight.  Snip away any left over wire as close to the knot as you can.

Thread on a Bead

Next thread on a bead.  I started with a lime green one.  Wrap the wire around the neck of the utensil just half a turn so that it’s back on the bottom side of the handle.

Add your second bead

Next I added a smaller red one.  I wrapped another half turn.

Add third bead and wrap again 3-4 times

Add your third bead and then wrap the wire tightly 3-4 times, just like you did in the beginning.

Just like in the beginning, loop your excess through the wrapped section and pull tight.

Wrap tightly and snip excess

Repeat until tight and then snip the excess.

Embelisshed Serving Utensils holiday

I think it adds the perfect touch!  You could apply this method for any occasion or holiday!

Bling on the Handle

These would also make a great host/hostess gift to the people who are preparing the holiday meal for the family!  A great way to say Thank You!

What do you think?  Could your holiday table use some bling?

Don’t forget that I will have a Holiday Happenings link party open until the 5th of January. Please link up all posts related to the Holidays {Christmas, Hanukah, New Year’s, etc.}

  1. Seriously. That’s all there is to it? I can do that! My daughter was given a butter knife and sugar spoon done like this several years ago as a gift….and won’t use them! Too special, she says! HA! Oh, girl, what would we do without you? Thanks SO much for this! Love ya, kiddo!

    1. Yes simple as that! I think it only took me about 20 minutes to do all four utensils! I am going to keep these and make a set for my mom! My parents are hosting Christmas this year!

  2. Thank you so much! I’ve been wanting to make these myself, but wasn’t sure how to begin and end. I’ll be gift-giving these as hostess gifts now.

    1. Thanks Debbie! These would look awesome for New Year’s! What colors would you do? I am thinking black and silver/clear or Maybe blue/white? Options are really endless! Thanks for stopping by!

  3. What a neat idea. They look pretty. I actually have a set similar, but they sure were not dollar tree. You made them look awesome. I see you joined our dollar tree party. Thank you. Could you add our button or link..I may have missed it.

    1. Thanks Debbie! I love your party, thanks for hosting! I am always finding things to “embellish” there! Your link is right at the bottom! ;-) Thanks again sweet lady!

    1. Hi April, I don’t have the wire anymore but I know I just choose one that would fit through my beads and still be sturdy enough to hold shape. Sorry, I did this project a few years ago and can’t remember!
