I have to make the boys a birthday banner each year. Why? I don’t know?!? I think they are cute, and fun, and really, really simple decorations that are easy to do and really personal! I knew a Mickey Mouse Birthday Banner was in order!
This year I used Cammie, my Silhouette Cameo to make my birthday banner for Ryan. For those of you without a Cameo…keep reading, there is a treat for you at the end of this post!
I started by using my Mickey Mouse Head shape that I had made in the Silhouette Software and enlarged it to the appropriate size. (Approx 5” x 6”). Then I fit as many as I could. I used a 12 x 12 size since that was the size of my cardstock.
I cut out these babies, 1 sheet of Red, 1 sheet of Black and 1 Sheet of Yellow.
Next I made centers to go in the middle. I simply drew a circle (holding the shift key while dragging the shape to make a circle versus an ellipse) and sized it in the center of one of the Mickey Heads to get the appropriate size. I copied the shape and moved it to it’s own new file and duplicated it. I used regular letters size for this one since that’s the cardstock I had.
Then I placed a letter “R” in the circle in Minnie Font, sized it appropriately and then copied it to a new file, where I wrote the rest of “Ryan is Two”
Cammie cut those out! Then I assembled using a glue runner gun. (So easy and fast!) Mickey Head, White insert, letter. I kept the color pattern.
Then I simply taped them onto a piece of ribbon! Wah Lah! (remember Ryan is his blog name so a bit of photoshopping happened in this picture!)
Now for the non-Cameo owners! I made some free printables so you too can have a birthday banner! I know, I am nice like that! :)
Check out all the posts from our Mickey Mouse Birthday Party in case you missed any!
Print them off, cut them out! You will just need to add your own letters!
As always download your printables through the link below and there will be no watermark on them. These are free for personal use only and may not be redistributed in any fashion. Thanks for your help!
