Create your own personalized birds nest necklace to keep your nest eggs close to your heart!
Nest Egg is a funny combination of words! Anyway, want to make one? One of these beauties? It’s super easy and can be personalized for your exact number of “eggs”! This would be a great gift for that wonderful woman in your life. She doesn’t even need to be a mother as these necklaces are quite trendy. They are easier than you think!
Items Needed:
- 26 gauge bead wire
- beads for eggs
- a jump ring (optional)
- choice of necklace
- wire snips or sharp scissors
Notes about my supplies: I bought everything I needed for this necklace at Hobby Lobby while they were having their jewelry making supplies 50% off. I think I paid under $5 for all the supplies and I have so much left over I could make 25 more
.
First I started out by cutting a good length of wire from the spool. Then I wrapped the wire around a Crayola marker a bunch of times to make the nest form. I left about 2 inches of straight wire unwound at the beginning. When your form of your nest looks how you want it, I circled the nest with 2 inch length of the wire 3 times to hold it together.
After wrapping it 3 times to hold together, either attach a jump ring and wrap again, or bend the remaining section into a small loop and wrap remaining wire and then snip excess to give the nest a way to loop onto a necklace. I used a jump ring for ease!
Picking up where we left off, I threaded a 6 mm light blue glass pearl bead on the remaining length of wire and moved the bead to where I wanted it in the nest and then wrapped the wire 3 times again across from the first wrapping, strapping that little guy in place. I repeated this 2 additional times, alternating where I wrapped the wire around the outside of the nest. I prefer that the wire look messy like a nest so I wrapped several times hap-hazardly after each bead was placed. You can also make yours clean if you like and wrap the wire neatly beside itself.
I chose these great blue glass pearls as my eggs because I have a household of boys and they reminded me of robin’s eggs! White Pearls, Magnetic beads and even colorful sparkly ones would look awesome also!
I couldn’t stop at one so I whipped up a second really quickly after experimenting with the first. I made this one a bit larger and looser. If you make your own, hop on over to my Holiday Happenings Link Party and link up your masterpiece or post a picture of yours to my Facebook page! I’d love to see what you created!

I would love to give this to my mom. She has 3 kids so she would love 3 eggs. She is super hard to shop for since she always buys everything she wants/needs immediately and never has a “wish list”.
