I have wanted to build a pergola since I bought my first house, right out of college, at age 23. I am now 31 and on house number 4! I guess good things do come to those who wait! {wink} I am bursting at the seams with excitement, because I get to share with you my pergola journey! This project has been long awaited and I hope it will inspire you to decide to make YOUR backyard dreams come true…sooner than later!

What is a pergola you ask? This right here:

A pergola is a structure usually consisting of parallel colonnades supporting an open roof of girders and cross rafters. The designs are endless. What will mine look like? Well…I guess we need to plan that don’t we? Let’s #DigIn!

Silhouette Portrait Giveaway + Fabric Applique Shirt

It’s that fabulous time again! Silhouette Portrait Giveaway Time! I am so excited to also share with you my rendition of the “hello” shirt…with my “Hola!” shirt, using Silhouette’s Heat Transfer interfacing! I love interfacing and using it just got a whole lot better now that I can cut fabric with my Silhouette! Now that I have my toes wet….the ideas are just racing through my head about things I can create next!

The downfall of using fabric for designs and appliques is “How am I going to cut that out so it looks decent?” Right? Like a snowflake for instance or a detailed flower or vine pattern or even my fun scripty font I used for my shirt. The cuts are so crisp using your Silhouette and the interfacing keeps the design right where it should be while you are sewing it in place! I am in love! LOVE I tell you! Tropical Green Smoothie Recipe

As a busy mom I needed to get more vitamins in my diet. This delicious and healthy green smoothie recipe accomplishes just that! Kale, Spinach, Pineapple and Coconut Milk make this smoothie fabulous! Bright green in color but fresh and sweet in taste! You and your family will love this! I am horrible about eating correctly lately. Sometimes, I am even terrible at eating in general. 5 pm will roll around and I realize I didn’t have a meal all day! Sometimes I pop a few grapes in my mouth when I feed the little {yes they eat during the day!} but when one or both are sitting nicely at the table eating lunch or dinner, I use that time to load the dishwasher or sweep the floor. I’m still in the room with them and in the conversations but I am taking advantage of them being “contained and entertained” at the moment! {If you are new here, My husband travels ALL. THE. TIME} Like weeks on end so anything to do with ME gets put on the back burner and apparently that even includes eating…{shaking my head at myself!} (more…)

Color Outside the Lines – Painted Canvas

COLOR Outside the Lines…

This painted canvas board kind of sums up my feelings at this exact moment! For so long we are told to color inside the lines…it’s actually used to gauge a young child’s readiness for school. Whether or not they can master following the direction and staying INSIDE the line. Since I have used the analytical side of my brain for SO long and then the “rules of blogging” telling me to pick a distinct niche makes me want to scream! Why do I have to pick ONE thing? Why can’t I do it all? Why can’t I COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES dammit!! So I did…and I continue to do :) {I passed over that rebellious stage as a teenager…maybe I am finding it now?}

Aren’t we supposed to stretch boundaries and test waters with our creativity? I thought so!

I know I talked briefly about my craft room ages ago. I know, I know…It is pretty much complete I just need to photograph it. Anyway, I shared my color block dresser that I am still in love with to this day! I wanted some fun artwork to display on it and on the wall of my CREATIVE space. I shopped around and didn’t like anything I found so I did what any DIY girl would do and I made one myself! It was really, really simple and I am going to share how to make your own!

Edy’s Outshine Bars – $100 Visa Gift Card Giveaway

Is there anything that makes your family function? Anything that is a “must-have” in your house? For us…it’s popsicles. I’m not even kidding and you know who depends on them the most? My husband! He loves them and his love has spread to my boys as well. Popsicles are dessert, they are rewards, they heal boo-boos and they are late night snacks. They hit the spot on a warm day, and for us, even on cold days! They are always stocked in my freezer and most times there are several different versions chilling on the shelves at one time.

THEY LOVE THEM!

I do not. I mean, I like to eat them sure on a hot day. But what I don’t love is the extra sugar and artificial colors that I am giving my kids to melt in their mouths and since we kind of live on them…all that artificial-ness is just adding up! Every time I hand them one or treat myself, I just think “cha-ching…extra sugar! Cha-ching…extra artificial whatever!” I don’t love that. At all. In high school I used to eat Edy’s Strawberry Fruit bars almost every day. They tasted delicious and they are made from real fruit and fruit juice! I thought, why I am not buying those for my family instead of the other ones? I was even more excited to find that the fabulous fruit bars I loved had gotten a makeover! They are now called Outshine fruit bars and they are still made with fruit and fruit juice. I was given some bars free of charge to taste test…well my kids ate most of them but you get the idea! Silhouette Portrait Giveaway + Chipboard Gift Boxes

You all know how much I love my Silhouette! I might have mentioned something a time or two before! I have made several vinyl projects. I love the fabric inks and I used them to make this funny baby onesie and I made a screencast on how easy it is to use the Designer Edition of Silhouette Studio Software. Add in a fun ghost t-shirt and the analytical version of a Christmas dish towel with the heat transfer and your options with the machine are endless. Embellish cards, frames, almost anything with the double sided adhesive paper, like my valentine’s day candle.

I am so excited to share with you a new product to join the Silhouette family…Chipboard! And so excited to host a Silhouette Portrait Giveaway today!

Have you ever had a project where you needed something sturdier than card stock but not as thick as card board?!? Well then this is for you! My mind is just circling around with ideas for this stuff, but today I am going to show you some really cute gift boxes that I made!
