They looked really tasty and we had just eaten at Cracker Barrel earlier that weekend and I was still kicking myself for forgoing the fried apples they have there. This was my substitute. After my brain took back over where my stomach left off…I realized I didn’t really want to serve these as is for dinner. My husband kids wouldn’t eat anything else I made if I did that! So here came these guys. I always have crescent rolls on hand in case we need pigs in a blanket or pizza pockets, or just rolls with dinner! Ingredients needed: Apples 1 tube refrigerated crescent rolls (will make 8 desserts) cinnamon/sugar Start out by unrolling your crescent roll dough and separate into triangles. I added a dollop of apples to the center and then rolled/folded/gathered the dough around to form a little pocket. Generously sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar. Yes, be generous!
Today we are boarding a plane (with 2 small children) to fly to Arizona (with 2 small children) to see my parents-in-love, sister/brother-in love and their kids and their kids (with 2 small children). One of our nieces & nephews just had a BABY GIRL earlier this month and I am dying to get my hands on her (with 2 small children in tow). I ask a favor of you all. Please say a prayer that our travels go smoothly (with 2 small children)!!! I would super, duper appreciate it. I have travelled with one. I have travelled with one alone. I have travelled with one alone while pregnant but I have NEVER travelled (flown) with TWO + a husband who gets stressed traveling! Please Lord be with me on this day! If I come back next week and only talk about 1 of the 2 said small children, it’s probably because we left one somewhere…on purpose. Oh, I guess I wouldn’t leave one anywhere…well not for long anyway. The big one knows his address…he’d most likely be the one to be returned and the minute someone discovers how much the younger one drools…he will likely be returned also. They… Continue reading...

They put chips in kids these days, don’t they?

Anyway…in return for your prayers, positive thoughts and the liquor you will send me (one can wish) I will treat you to cute pictures of 2 small children. Hopefully both of which will be on the return flight with us!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend! Looking for a project to tackle? How about this great memo/bulletin board?? Hands down, this has to be on of my favorite projects so far! It came to life from my mind to reality so nicely and better than I expected! I love when things like that work out! This board can be used as a bulletin board with pins, or as a photo display board using the ribbons…or both! I love the versatility! Items Needed: Old Frame Spray paint Foam boards (2) Spray adhesive Fabric Ribbon Hot glue gun/glue sticks Fabric buttons forms kit Tapestry needle Embroidery floss Stapler/staples Scissors Start off by giving your frame a good couple coats of spray paint! Paint it pretty! I chose to use Krylon’s Dual Action Paint and Primer in Watermelon! Next cut your two sheets of foam board down to size, using an Xacto knife and a straight edge. I used a 2-pack of Elmer’s foam Boards and they worked great! (If you are doing a smaller frame, you might be able to use utilize one foam board and cut it into two.) Be sure to measure the inside… Continue reading...

Hands down, this has to be on of my favorite projects so far! It came to life from my mind to reality so nicely and better than I expected! I love when things like that work out! This board can be used as a bulletin board with pins, or as a photo display board using the ribbons…or both! I love the versatility!

Items Needed:

Old Frame

Spray paint

Foam boards (2)

Spray adhesive

Fabric

Ribbon

Hot glue gun/glue sticks

Fabric buttons forms kit

Tapestry needle

Embroidery floss

Stapler/staples

Scissors

Start off by giving your frame a good couple coats of spray paint! Paint it pretty! I chose to use Krylon’s Dual Action Paint and Primer in Watermelon!

Next cut your two sheets of foam board down to size, using an Xacto knife and a straight edge. I used a 2-pack of Elmer’s foam Boards and they worked great! (If you are doing a smaller frame, you might be able to use utilize one foam board and cut it into two.) Be sure to measure the inside of your frame. Mine was slightly larger than 16 x 20 so I cut my foam inserts exactly to 16 x 20. You need to allow for fabric and ribbon to wrap around the foam board.

Using your spray adhesive, spray one side of the foam board and stack the second on top. this will prevent them from slipping and/or separating once in your frame! It’s important to use two layers because one layer is not thick enough for a thumbtack.

Next cut your fabric to size. Add 4 inches to your frame measurements to leave 2 inches overhang on each edge. Since my frame is 16 x 20, I cut my fabric 20 x 24. Be sure to press out any wrinkles or folds in your fabric. The wrinkles don’t stretch out later and they will yell at your every time you see your finished board “Wish you would have taken the time to iron me out…don’t cha?”

Lay your fabric wrong side up on your work surface. Spray your foam board stack with spray adhesive again and center on the wrong side of your fabric.

Cut the corners out of your fabric to make it easier to wrap the fabric.

Working with one edge at a time, spray a line of spray adhesive on the side of your foam board facing up, and then wrap the fabric up over the back of the foam board pressing firmly against the adhesive you just sprayed. Use staples as extra security. Repeat for all remaining sides.

Turn your fabric wrapped foam board right side up and then cut strips of ribbon and lay out on your board. You can play around with your placement here.

Using hot glue, tack the ribbons in place being sure to pull tight, secure with more hot glue and I also added staples as back up!

Where the ribbons cross each other in the center of the board, we are going to add a few fabric covered buttons! These will not only add some strength to the ribbons but also add some decorative appeal! To start we need to cover the buttons with fabric!

Fabric Buttons How-To:

1. A fabric button kit comes with the button top, the button back, a form, a pusher and there is a pattern for the circle you will need to cut on the cardboard of the packaging. Cut this out and then cut out the circle from your fabric.

2. Start by centering your fabric on top of the mold, wrong side up.

3. Next push the button top down into the mold.

4. Fold the fabric into the button top.

5. Place the button back on the form, using the pusher to snap the button back into the button top, securing your fabric in place.

6. Remove from the mold and you have a pretty fabric covered button!

Now we are going to take our pretty buttons and put them on the board! I used embroidery floss and a tapestry needle to do this. String your floss through the button and then thread on to the needle, threading BOTH ends of the floss.

Center you needle where the ribbons cross and push the pin through the foam boards.

I pulled it tight and secured the threads using a dab of hot glue and scotch tape. You are left with a cute button on the front!

Repeat for the (4) center ribbon intersections. Then using hot glue, I secured the completed bulletin board into the frame!

I am making this vibrant pink board for my sister for her college apartment. You certainly can tone down the color pop to adjust to your home décor! I plan to make one for our new kitchen in our new house! Keep the kids school papers and invites right in view!

I already shared the cute Pinterest inspired Valentine’s Day Cards for Michael to give to his classmates…but I wanted Ryan to have a few for his toddler friends also. I wanted to steer clear of candy at that age so I came up with this! Pin It I used my Cameo and cut out a tag and manipulated it the way I needed it. I wrote the message “You are my Main Squeeze”, added a few stickers and slapped the tag on a squeezable apple sauce! I am still learning my Cameo so I am sure a seasoned user could use the print & cut feature or the sketch pens for this, but I just wrote it in myself for now, until I learn! These are not sugar added, no artificial colors/flavors and are yummy! They have these guys in the regular apple sauce aisle. I couldn’t use the ones in the baby food aisle because the tops/caps were too large. (These do require supervision for really young ones that put things in their mouth because the caps are small.) Now Ryan will have some cute Valentine’s Cards to share with his little buddy!

I am sure you have heard by now that come March 1st, Google Friend Connect will be going away for all non-Blogger blogs, which includes mine. I heard through the blog-land grapevine that it will eventually go away for Blogger blogs also.

Look…they even give me the bad news on my widget itself! Here is a screenshot of it when I was moving themes:

So that means I will not see all 142 (yes 5 more people signed in after I took this screenshot) of your faces in my sidebar anymore. It also means that you will no longer get my blog post updates in your Google Reader anymore (if that’s the way you read my blog). Kind of stinks! So here are some new ways you can still get my posts delivered to you!!

1. E-mail

Get my latest posted delivered straight to your email address. You can be assured that I will not send you SPAM!

Enter your email address:

Delivered by FeedBurner

2. RSS

Don’t be afraid of RSS! The best explanation of RSS I can give you is that RSS is my words, without the pretty blog header, background and sidebars. It is just my post and my words and my pictures! You commonly read RSS as an Email sent to you (#1 above) or in a Reader. Like Google Reader, Live or Yahoo. There are many. By clicking the button below, you can then specify which reader you would like to read my RSS in. It will update whenever I post something new. This is also great if you read many blogs…they will all be in one place and you don’t have to go to umpteen different websites to read all your favorites! (If you DO want to pop over to the actual blog, you can do so from your reader by clicking the title of the blog post!)

(click that little guy above and it will take you to feedburner to select your reader type)

3. Bloglovin’

I am on bloglovin’ you can follow me there if that is your cup of tea!
