Rosette Headband + Tutorial

When we visited Arizona, I was able to love all over our brand new 2 week old niece while we were there and I was in heaven!  I couldn’t come empty handed and miss my opportunity to make some thing GIRLY for her!

I decided on a Rosette Headband to match an infant tutu!

  Items Needed:

  • Headband (I bought mine from Hobby Lobby)
  • Fabric
  • Hot glue gun/glue sticks
  • Needle and thread

To make a Rosette:

  1. Cut a strip of fabric (I just used some cotton broadcloth) 21” long and 1.5 inches wide.  This will make a 1” finished rosette.
  2. Fold the strip in half long ways
  3.  Hold each end of the folded strip in each of your hands and twist until the entire strip is twisted.  Bring your two hands together and the strip will wrap around itself.
  4. Tie a loose knot in the end where the 2 separate ends meet
  5. Roll the twisted fabric around the knot until a rosette is formed.
  6. Use a dab of hot glue on the end of the fabric strip
  7. Tuck under the edge of the rosette

To insure that they stay in place, I like to cut small fabric circles (a bit smaller than the rosette) and glue them to the back of the fabric flowers.

Next I just used some thread and a needle, and a few quick stitches to adhere them to the headband.

To make larger rosettes you can simply use longer and wider strips of fabric!

Imagine a baby girl in this picture!!!  These headbands fit infants to toddlers, they are super stretchy!   Need to make the tutu also?  I already shared my tutorial on a No Sew Infant/Newborn Tutu and also my tutorial on how to make a Toddler/Young Girl Tutu!  You can check those out!

You can also check out all the other things I have done with Fabric Flowers and how to make them {HERE}.  If you want to make this even more special for a birthday you can substitute the plain white onesie with a personalized onesie!  Oh the possibilities!
